About Seed Forum Estonia
The 1st Seed Forum was organised on the 8th of June 2006 in cooperation with Innovation Norway’s Office in Tallinn. This made Estonia become the 6th country to organise Seed Forum investor matchmaking events as the first activity of its kind. Seed Forum International Foundation took over the organising of Seed Forum activities in Tallinn from autumn 2006 until spring 2012 when Rando Pârna was appointed the country manager of Seed Forum Estonia. Seed Forums investor events in Tallinn has been organised every 6th month since spring 2006.
The fist venue of Seed Forum Tallinn was “Lounge 21” of the Radisson Hotel and changed to the Conference Centre of Swissotel spring 2012 in partnership with DNB (Nord) Bank. Spring 2014 and spring 2015 the forum was organised in the NORDEA headquarter and from autumn 2015 in the headquarters of Swedbank.
Until end 2008 all companies presenting in Seed Forums in Tallinn were companies from overseas mainly from Norway but also from Sweden and Finland. Seed Forum Academy has organised pitch trainings in Tallinn every 6th month from autumn 2008 which has led to that currently more than 100 Estonian companies has presented in Seed Forums in Tallinn and overseas.
The first pitch training in 2008 took place in the Radisson Hotel and since then pitch trainings has been hosted in the offices of the Borenius Law Firm from 2009, in Tallinn Technopool from 2012 and since 2015 in Loomeninkubator. Pitch trainings has also been organised in the City of Pârnu and the City of Tartu.
Evening receptions has been hosted after each respective Seed Forum since 2006 by all Norwegian and British Ambassadors. The evening reception autumn 2008 was a major event co-hosted in the Tallinn Old City Hall by the City of Tallinn represented by Major Toomas Vitsoot and the British Ambassador.
Seed Forum Eesti Foundation has been the national operator of the Seed Forum Process in Estonia since it was founded by Seed Forum International Foundation as the sole founder with assistance from the Borenius Law Firm spring 2008. Seed Forum Eesti was one of the partners of the INTERREG project “home/team market” with grant from the European Commission from 2012 to 2014 which led to a major increase of Seed Forum activity in Estonia. As well the Seed Forum Estonia Foundation was responsible for a project for partnership within eGoverment and Cyber Security between partners in Norway and Estonia with grant from “Norway Grants” in 2015/16. Seed Forum Eesti is currently working out of Loomeninkubator.
Seed Forum has been a major player and long-time program in the Estonian Innovation System for many years and even since some years before Estonia became the start-up country as it is today.
